Cong opposes traffic sentinel scheme in Mapusa

MAPUSA: The Mapusa Block Congress Committee headed by Vijay Bhike has opposed the Traffic Sentinel Scheme in Mapusa.
Claiming that the scheme was not beneficial to the people, Bhike said, “The government has come up with yet another scheme called Traffic Sentinel scheme to loot the people. Under this scheme instead of doing their work properly, the government is pressurizing the people to take the responsibility.”
He said that instead of coming up with such schemes, government should install CCTVs at each no entry points and accident prone zones to identify the cause of incident. “Instead of deploying ten police staff at one location, deploy them at ten different locations to keep a check,” he advised.
“This is yet another source of income for government and a new way of harnessing people. With implementation of this scheme, people will only think of increasing their reward points and will try to take any photos and videos. In this way government will keep the people busy fighting among themselves, while it indulges in corruption at the highest level,” he said.
