Cong questions delay in resolving highway liquor issue

PANJIM: Slamming the BJP-led coalition government for failing to act in resolving the liquor ban issue, the Congress questioned why the government is reluctant to de-notify the State highways, thereby granting protection to liquor traders, who fall within the ambit of 500 metres as per the Supreme Court order.

“If Maharashtra government can de-notify highways giving protection to liquor traders, why can’t Goa government? Why is the government playing with the livelihood of the people?” State Congress President Luizinho Faleiro asked. He reiterated the demand that the government immediately de-notify the highways and protect the liquor traders.
