PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has set up a control room and helpline to assist people during second wave of COVID-19, as part of the All India Congress Committee programme to coordinate, monitor and tackle the Coronavirus infection in the State.
GPCC Vice President Dr Pramod Salgaocar will be the chairperson of control room and helpline while Dr Rajendra Sawarderkar will be the vice chairperson and Vithoba Dessai will be the coordinator.
Both the District Congress Committee Presidents Joseph (Joe) Dias and Vijay Bhike, Mahila Congress incharge Beena Naik, Dr Ashish Kamat, Shankar Kirlapalkar, Varad Mardolkar, Naushad Chaudhary, Everson Vales and James Andrade (Helpline) are the members on the control room.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar said that the people reeling under the Coronavirus second wave can contact the members at the Congress office, Panjim or at District offices at Mapusa and Margao.
The committee will mostly function through virtual mode, he said adding that the party members will update the control room about the ground situation with regard to the spread of Coronavirus across the State.
Dr Salgaocar and Dr Sawardekar who have been appointed as chairperson and vice chairperson of the control room were from the field of health, he added.
Chodankar further informed that the party has also created WhatsApp groups at the State-level and in every Assembly constituency so as to coordinate and monitor the COVID-19 situation in the State and in their respective constituency.
