PANJIM: All India Congress Committee Spokesperson Alka Lamba on Thursday slammed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for lying to people of Goa on church demolition in South Delhi. Lamba told reports that the order to demolish the church was issued by the Delhi government’s Revenue Department on July 7 and claimed that Kejriwal was aware of it since it was demolished on July 12. Kejriwal should have taken steps to save the church, she added.
“How can he (Kejriwal) being Chief Minister of Delhi, not be aware of it?” Lamba demanded to know.
Reacting to Kejriwal’s statement that the church was demolished by the DDA (Delhi Development Authority), which comes under the Central government, Lamba said that two Delhi AAP MLAs and one BJP MLA and three BJP corporators are members of the DDA and that they remained silent spectators. Lamba pointed out that when a temple was demolished in Chandni Chowk, it was rebuilt soon. The same way the church should be rebuilt, she said. The Congress spokesperson said that when minorities are attacked, the Delhi Chief Minister remained silent. Lamba said that the Congress is against the demolition of a church and that it will support the Christian community. The church should be rebuilt the way the temple was reconstructed.
