Cong slams govt for gross mismanagement

To hold protests on June 29 in Mapusa & Margao over petrol & diesel price hike

PANJIM: The Congress on Thursday slammed Dr Pramod Sawant-led government for gross mismanagement of COVID-19 situation that resulted into spike in daily positive cases.

Addressing media persons, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar said the Chief Minister’s failed policies and decisions is a result that Goa today has over 950 COVID positive cases.

“Goa, which was a green zone two months back, today has over 950 cases. This is only because of government’s care a dam attitude and negligence,” he said.

Chodankar said that since the situation has gone out of control, the Chief Minister has surrendered himself to COVID crisis and wants people to live with it.

“Government sheer negligence post-zero number of cases, is a result, that today, the virus is fast spreading. Though government is denying, the community transmission has begun in the State,” he charged.

The Congress has been repeatedly demanding sealing of State borders except for movement of essential commodities.

Meanwhile, the State Congress unit will hold mass protests on Monday, June 29 in Mapusa and Margao over the “unprecedented” rise in petrol and diesel prices. The protest is a part of nationwide call given by All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Chodankar said the party will also hold silent protest on Friday at Azad Maidan over China’s incursion into Indian territory by paying homage to the Army personnel killed in a violent faceoff with China.
