Cong threatens to move Lokayukta against govt

Says L&T Infrastructure Ltd was awarded electrical works to the tune of Rs 45 cr without following tendering process

PANJIM: Congress party on Tuesday threatened to move Lokayukta against State government for awarding electrical works to the tune of Rs 45 crore to L&T Infrastructure Ltd, the project consultant for third Mandovi Bridge, without following tendering process.
Addressing media persons, Congress president Girish Chodankar charged that in a bid to favour a company called NARE Electrical Pvt Ltd, owned by close aid of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, no tender was floated for the supply of electrical items.
He also alleged that Parrikar, through a special review meeting held in April 2017, directed Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) to include the bridge illumination project within the scope of the contract of L&T and that the electrical items would be purchased directly by the project consultant and not by GSIDC.
Chodankar had earlier stated that as per the bill submitted by the L&T towards the electrical work, it has quoted Rs 2 lakh per pole and another Rs 1.52 lakh for lighting. “There are total 592 poles fitted on the bridge,” he had said.
“It is clear case for Lokayukta. And we are moving in that direction,” Chodankar said while urging GSIDC Managing Director not to clear the bills submitted by the consultant.
