SANGUEM: Sanguem Block Youth Congress President Messiah Da Costa has urged the government to open an Aadhaar enrolment and correction centre at Sanguem, immediately.
According to Da Costa, in the absence of Aadhar enrolment centre at Sanguem, people from remote areas of the taluka are facing extreme hardship and spend a couple of days in getting Aadhar card.
Da Costa said that presently people from Sanguem have to travel either to Quepem or Curchorem to apply for Aadhaar cards. This means, travelling a distance of around 25 to 30 kilometres for people living in Neturlim, Villiana, Verlem, Salgini and Tudov.
Da Costa informed that on reaching the Centre, people are told to come back to the Centre after about 20 to 25 days for getting the Aadhaar Card done.
However, since the Aadhar card enrolment is done online, lack of internet connectivity and power failure would affect the processing and the people would be forced to make another trip or more for Aadhaar card enrolment.
Many a times, people have to make more than two trips to the Aadhar enrolment centres in getting an Aadhar card, resulting in waste of time and money, Da Costa alleged. Travelling to long distances also becomes a tedious affair for senior citizens, complained Da Costa.
Therefore, the opening of Aadhar card centre at Sanguem would greatly help the people from Sanguem particularly those hailing from hinterland areas, Da Costa said adding that opening of Aadhaar card centre at Sanguem would help the poor people save time and money.
Incidentally, there was an Aadhaar card enrolment centre at Sanguem initially, but the same was closed down after some time. Da Costa informed that there are several vacant government premises in Sanguem which could be used for opening the Aadhaar Card centre.
