MARGAO: The sanitary section of the Primary Health Centre, Curtorim led by Eusebio D’Silva inspected the market square of Chandor and noted the very unhygienic condition in which some of the vendors are carrying out their business.
The biggest offender was found to be the person selling chicken at a small kiosk and also the village tinto where fish and pork is sold. The sanitary officials noted that the market has no soak pit and all the water just stagnates in the tinto itself or seeps out which is totally unhygienic.
The sanitary officials reportedly told the panchayat that they will have to construct a soak pit for the market so that the waste water from the market can seep into it instead of just stagnating.
The officials took a serious note of the chicken vending outlet which violates many sanitary conditions. The chicken being kept on the ground in a cage was found objectionable by the officials who also noted that there is no system set in place for the waste water to drain off which just stagnates around.
Besides, the officials also inspected some of the fruit and vegetable vendors who are operating without any permission or license and also operate in unhygienic conditions as they keep the fruits and vegetable on the ground. The official report of the inspection and what action the panchayat should take will be dispatched to the panchayat later.
