PANJIM: Goa Forward Party (GFP) chief and Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai on Monday hinted that Congress was trying to hook him to form the government but he has refused the offer.
After the recent by-elections, BJP has become single largest party in the House with 17 MLAs, while Congress has 15. Goa Forward Party and Independents are three each while one each is from the NCP and MGP.
There were news doing the rounds that Congress has offered Chief Ministerial post to Sardesai.
Responding to the same, Sardesai admitted that Congress had contacted him for some deals.
However, he  refused to disclose what exactly the deal was. “Everything was just speculations. Nothing will change,” he commented.
Sardesai said that GFP is part of NDA and the support will continue. “When I had my first meeting with late Manohar Parrikar, when he CM, I had promised him to be with the NDA and my stand continues to be the same,” he said.
GFP had supported Manohar Parrikar-led BJP to form government after March 2017 election.
