PANJIM: Indian National Congress (INC) general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, on Saturday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has turned demographic dividend into “demographic disaster”.
Addressing the media persons, Surjewala said, “Goa is in second place as far as unemployment is concerned. The unemployment rate of Goan graduates is touching 63 per cent. The systematic decimation of tourism, fisheries and mining has made the situation grimmer. In Goa, over a lakh youth are registered on the State employment market with no jobs.”

He claimed that in all 30 lakh posts are lying vacant at Central and State government level and alleged that BJP’s motto is “jobs for sale”.
“Lack of transparency, accountability and morality in Sawant government defines the lust of ruling party for power and money. The job scams in Legal Metrology, Public Works Department (PWD) and Goa Medical College (GMC) have reflected the extent to which the BJP has indulged in corruption”.
Alleging that the Prime Minister Modi has misutilised the fund of Beti Padhao, Beti Badhao by spending around 79 per cent of the budget on self-advertisement, Surjewala said, “Beti Padhao, Beti Badhao has become a jumla”.
Surjewala alleged that the mindset of BJP is anti-women. “The counter question asked by CM Sawant to the Benaulim rape case victim’s parent asking ‘why did the parents allow their girl child to go on beach at night’ signifies anti-women mindset of BJP in Goa”, said Surjewala.
He claimed that the rate of sex trafficking in Goa is the highest in India.
