PORVORIM: Deputy Collector & SDO Mapusa Sabaji Shetye has issued ‘stop work order’ notice directing two persons to stop the controversial conversion/ construction undertaken by them in Pilerne without prior permission as required under Section 32 (i) of LRC 1968.
Shetye has also directed the two persons to appear in his court on December 12 and show cause why further action should not be initiated against them for such illegal conversion of use of land from agricultural to non-agricultural purpose or from one purpose to another.
The deputy collector has also directed police inspector of Porvorim police station to maintain a strict vigil on the site and ensure that his order is served and that no further construction activity takes place till further order. If the two persons refuse to stop construction, the police inspector has also been directed to seize all the material and machinery, if any, and initiate action under Section 188 of IPC.
The deputy collector issued the order following a complaint by Pilerne Citizens Forum to the North Goa Collector on November 18 stating that a construction is coming up in orchard zone and that no action has been taken by Pilerne Panchayat and the Mamlatdar’s office.
