PANJIM: In recognition of World Schizophrenia Awareness Day, COOJ Mental Health Foundation organised a poignant tribute at the Friday Mapusa market, underscoring the resilience and creativity of individuals battling the mental illness.
The foundation’s stall, adorned with delectable baked goods, lush green plants, intricately painted clay pots, and captivating handcrafted paintings, served as a testament to the unwavering spirit of their clients. Each item showcased, was meticulously crafted by individuals who refused to succumb to the grip of mental handicap.
Emphasizing the mantra, “everyone can work if only given an opportunity,” COOJ Mental Health Foundation aimed to dismantle societal stigmas surrounding mental health disabilities. Through this display of ingenuity and determination, they sought to ignite conversations about the potential for meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with schizophrenia and other psychological disabilities.
Looking towards the future, the foundation announced plans to launch a pioneering project dedicated to fostering employment opportunities for individuals with psychological disabilities and embracing neuro-diversity.
