The Panjim Police have informed Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mrs Sharmila Patil that the summons issued to Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane could not be served on him.
It may be recalled that taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the Old Goa Police against the Health Minister, the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mrs. Sharmila Patil had directed Vishwajeet Rane to appear before her on September 14 at 10 am to answer charges of having made a threatening call to Aires on July 31, 2007. Later summons were issued to him. The Panjim Police returned the summons back to the JMFC unserved.
When contacted the police said that the summon was address-specific and was served to the minister at his residence Kamat Kinara, Miramar. When the policemen went with the summons, they found that the minister was not in the flat and that the premise was under renovation. Now open-ended summons could be issued to the minister, the police officer said.
