VASCO: The road between Cortalim and Verna slope will remain closed from 11 pm to 5 am to facilitate major works of bridge construction from Sunday.
The wing transportation and wing lifting work will take place from 11 pm to 5 am and in order to safeguard the people’s safety, the traffic will be diverted via Sancoale, Dabolim Airport.
The circular, which was issued in January this year, has been circulated again. Since the Zuari bridge work did not require traffic to be diverted for the past days, the PWD has issued the circular again as the contractor is will start work on the Wing segment of elevated corridor from Sunday.
The notification by the Vasco traffic cell, states that the executive engineer of PWD division XIV of National Highways has issued a notification stating that the road stretch from Cortalim junction till Verna slope will remain closed for traffic from 11 pm till 5 am in the morning for allowing the work Wing segment launching of elevated corridor awarded to DBL-MBZ (JV) for Package (III) of Zuari Bridge from January 28, 2020 till August 31, 2020.
The notification further states that the highway traffic shall be diverted from Verna Titan junction on NH-17 and NH-17B of MES College Zuarinagar junction, Dabolim Chicalim junction NH-17A, Cortalim junction (NH-17,NH-17A) and vice-versa for highway traffic in both directions.
It further says that the wing segment transportation from casting yard to site location be permitted in non-peak hours of the day. Non-peak hours will be from 10 am to 12 noon and from 2.30 pm till 4.30 pm.
