Couple hurt in mishap

A couple was seriously injured when two Karnataka-registered vehicles collided with each other at Ordhofond-Bhatpal on Saturday afternoon.
Traffic along the highway was blocked for over an hour as a result of the mishap.
According to Canacona police, a Scorpio (KA-01-MF-7265) proceeding towards Canacona and an oncoming truck (KA-25-7776) collided near the Ordhofond bridge at about 12.30 pm.
Two occupants in the Scorpio jeep, Vivek Sundarajan (34) and Vani Vivek Sundarajan (30) were seriously hurt in the mishap.
Police said the injured were first moved to the CHC Canacona, before being shifted to a private hospital in Salcete.
The truck driver, one Bassavraj Mallappa Uppar(26) of Gadag-Karnataka has been booked for the offence.
