Court issues bailable warrant against PI Sinari

PANJIM: Police Inspector Krishna Sinari had to face the wrath of the Additional Sessions Judge-I (North Goa) as the court last week issued a bailable warrant against him for delaying trial in a heinous criminal offence, whose accused is facing trial since the year 2016.

On December 6, when the matter was posted for recording evidence of the investigating officer, the court was submitted a wireless message received from Police Inspector of Panjim Police Station stating that PI Sinari is unable to attend this court owing to VVIP security bandobast duty.

The accused, in his late 30s is facing trial in the case since 2016 for an offence committed in the year 2014.

The matter was first posted for evidence of the IO on February 5, 2021 and, though duly served, the IO remained absent.

Additional Sessions Judge-I Edgar Fernandes, in his order last week said that on October 6, 2021 the Public Prosecutor was directed to ensure IO’s presence on the next date of hearing.

“However, on the next day, that is, October 27, 2021, a wireless was received that the IO PI Krishna Sinari was deployed on VVIP bandobast duty and he is unable to attend. The matter was then adjourned for November 19, 2021 but, on that day, the PP filed a memo, addressed to this court by the IO PI Krishna Sinari stating that he is unable to attend the court as he was deployed for IFFI bandobast duty and as such the matter was posted for today (December 6, 2021),” the Judge said

However, the IO yet again refrained from attending the court as a wireless message was sent expressing inability to attend the hearing. “It is thus obvious that the IO PI Krishna Sinari, is delaying the trial of this case and has been staying away from the court by citing bandobast duty as an excuse for his absence,” the court observed.

In the circumstances, the Judge observed that that the IO will not remain present before the court unless compelled to do so; and hence, directed the concerned to issue bailable warrant against the IO in the sum of 10,000.
