PANJIM: The Juvenile Court, on Monday, rejected the Crime Branch’s application to conduct a lie-detector test on the minor boy who is one of the prime witnesses in the case of Fr Bismarque Dias’ mysterious death.
The witness as well as his parents had given their consent for the test, but based on objections of the Victim Assistant Unit, the court had rejected the application for the test.
The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Panjim has already given its consent for a lie-detector test on another prime witness in the case.
Superintendent of Crime Branch Karthik Kashyap said that they are ready to conduct the test even tomorrow, but the date will be set based on the availability of the lab.
The Crime Branch is still waiting for the reports of the DNA profiling and diatom test, which are very crucial for making headway in the case.
Bismarque’s mysterious death on November 7 had attracted massive protests from across Goa over the shabby investigation by the Old Goa Police. The investigation was later handed over to the Crime Branch.
