Courts to function on normal basis

PANJIM: The Government of Goa on Monday issued instructions to all the Courts and Quasi – Judicial Authorities to commence functioning on normal basis by taking into account the situation prevailing in their respective districts.

The competent authorities of the respective courts including Revenue Courts, Children’s Court, Industrial Court, Administrative Tribunal, Labour Court, RERA, Goa Human Rights Commission, Goa State Information Commission and other quasi – Judicial authorities such as Rent Controller, Deputy Director/Directorate of Panchayat, Mamlatdars / Joint Mamlatdars / BDO; have also been asked to take measures to ensure appropriate behavior is followed on COVID-19.  

“The principal idea is to avoid congestion and occasion of close contacts, the Bar Associations would also ensure that the Bar Rooms are not crowded, the canteens, cafeteria in the court shall not be kept open beyond the office working hours,” it said adding that all the mentioned courts and quasi judicial authorities should take appropriate measures to regulate entry of the litigants and the general public in the court complex to avoid crowding and the facility of video conferencing, if available, should be put to optimum use for the purposes of recording of evidence. 

Housekeeping agency/ staff have also been asked to ensure that highest level of hygiene is maintained in the court complex and disinfectants are sprayed on a regular basis besides following all the possible preventive and remedial measures to combat the impending threat of COVID-19.
