VASCO: In a shocking incident, body of a person reportedly succumbed due to COVID-19 infection was brought in the waddo, at Headland Sada, here, which created panic among the neighbours.
The incident caught the attention of the Office of Deputy Collector of Mormugao and directed the Mormugao Police Inspector to investigate the incident and take necessary action in this regard.
As per the available information, a resident of Headland Sada, brought his family member’s body to his waddo, on Tuesday, in an ambulance. This caught the attention of the neighbours, who panicked with this incident and strongly objected to the move. Later, the body was immediately taken to the crematorium and the last rites were performed.
When contacted, Deputy Collector of Mormugao Sachin Desai informed that one person had emailed the office about the incident and on this basis he has directed the Mormugao Police Inspector to investigate into the matter and take necessary action.
Meanwhile, Mormugao Police Inspector Paresh Naik said that he has not received any correspondence from the Deputy Collector’s Office till Friday evening.
“Once the police station receives any directions, I will look into it,” PI Naik added.
