MARGAO: It appears that the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) employees have taken the COVID-19 cases detected in the municipality seriously as on Thursday several sections in the building remained closed causing inconvenience to the public who had come for hearings and other works.
The MMC employees did not report for duty due to the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases among the staff.
The Council and the administration have been discussing the issue since the last two days. However, there was no official order on the closure of the limited operations. Some councillors said that only the Birth and Deaths Section of the MMC was open. The civic body informed that it will commence its regular operations from Monday.
A Margao resident said his case was to be heard today and he came with the advocate for the hearing, but had to return disappointed as MMC Chief Officer was absent.
