MARGAO: The District Magistrate, South has notified the premises of Daivadnya Samaj Community Welfare Centre “Daivadnya Bhavan”, Calconda, Margao as COVID-19 care centre from Monday, to house asymptomatic COVID positive patients.
Earlier, the District Administration had proposed the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, at Navelim, as COVID care centre.

The South District Administration is on their toes as the cases have started emerging all over South Goa. The villages which are thickly populated are becoming the hotspots.
South Goa District Collector Ajit Roy has informed that the plan to have COVID Care Centre in Navelim Indoor Stadium has been cancelled as it is an air conditioned stadium and has no ventilation.
Source in the District Collectorate said that the administration has suggested various premises across each constituency of South Goa to make sure every area has a COVID Care Centre to handle patients.
Even Dr Shekhar Salkar in a press conference of Indian Medical Association had said that the Navelim Indoor Stadium won’t suit.
