PANJIM: The Crime Branch (CB) on Wednesday arrested three foreign nationals for overstaying in India, from their rented accommodation Vagator. The women hailing from Tanzania and Kenya were also found without their passports.
Information shared with the media reveals that based on the inputs received from the Deputy Superintendent of police of the (Foreigner Regional Registration Offices (FRRO) in Panjim, the CB team headed by police inspector Jivba Dalvi and other staff raided the premise of a local who had rented out his accommodation to Hawa Ibrahim Kulwa, 33, Faidha Khassim Mijae, 35, both Tanzanian national and 34-year-old Kenyan Norah Vugutma Amadi, 34. Upon inquiry, they failed to produce their travel documents like passport and visa.
“They were found to be staying illegally in Goa. The CB team produced the women before the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer Bossuet Silva who has ordered to lodge them at Detention Centre. If they fail to produce their documents, they will be liable for prosecution under section 14 of the Foreigners Act,” an officer said.
The FRRO has so far deported 19 foreign nationals from the commencement of the Detention Centre at Mapusa in May-end.
This month itself, around six foreigners, all Uganda nationals were deported for illegal staying in Goa. More than 30 detainees are at present lodged at the Centre.
