PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved constitution of State level Monitoring Committee for District Mineral Foundation (DMF), chaired by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
“The other members would include minister for mines, chief secretary, secretary mines, secretary Finance, Director of Mines and Geology,”
the chief minister informed reporters.
He said that the proposal was also approved for introducing Project Management Unit (PMU) for Goa State District Mineral Foundation Trust.
“As mineral Foundation of Goa being local experts and having long experience in needs of mining affected areas of Goa, can be considered to be as project management unit (PMU),” he said.
He said that for incorporating State Level Monitoring Committee and Project Management Unit amendments are required to be made to district Mineral Trust (Trust Rules, 2018).
While the financial implication for constituting SLMC is nil, the implication for engaging PMU is Rs 50,06,4000 through District mineral Funds.
“As per rule 14 (c) of District Mineral Foundation (Trust) Rules, 2018 an amount not exceeding 2.5 per cent of the annual receipts of the foundation may be utilised for administrative, supervisory and overhead costs of the foundation, which is Rs 4.705 crore,” he said.
He said that the total collection of DMF is Rs 188.16 crore while the total expenditure incurred till date from DMF is Rs 2.044 crore.
The district Mineral Foundation Fund is maintained in the savings account of State Bank of India, Treasury branch, Panjim.
