Mapusa shop raided for using chemical to ripen bananas

MAPUSA: The officers of Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration on Wednesday inspected a shop selling bananas located at Mapusa sub-yard and took 500 grams of the fruits for testing. 
The FDA team visited the shop after a video went viral on WhatsApp in which one Krishna Khobarekar claimed that the workers in the shop ripening bananas using chemicals.
Khobarekar also sells coconuts at Mapusa sub-yard. In the same video, Khobarekar also claimed that bananas were stored close to dirty water. 
When contacted, Khobrekar stated that the workers of the shop selling bananas were using chemicals to artificially ripe bananas.
Complainant alleged that the bananas that take eight days to ripen naturally are being ripened artificially using chemicals.
However, the shop owner Noor Ahmad denied using any chemical to ripen the bananas.
