The Union government has prepared a revised wildlife mitigation plan to facilitate the completion of pending double-tracking work on the Duski-Castlerock-Kulem-Kalem section of the Hospet-Hubballi-Londa-Tinaighat-Vasco da Gama railway line.
The section is currently undergoing the required clearance process, with the revised wildlife plan aimed at addressing environmental concerns before construction can proceed on the pending stretch.

The doubling project covers 312 km of railway line and is being executed at an estimated cost of ₹4,730 crore.
According to the Centre, ₹2,785 crore had been spent on the project up to March 2026. A further ₹434 crore has been allocated for the project during the 2026-27 financial year.
The revised wildlife mitigation plan is intended to address concerns related to the ecological impact of the railway expansion and help the pending section progress towards construction once the necessary statutory clearances are obtained.
The project is expected to strengthen rail connectivity along the Hospet-Hubballi-Londa-Tinaighat-Vasco da Gama corridor once the double-tracking work is completed.
