Colva Police have booked two persons for allegedly organising and facilitating an illegal bullfight, locally known as a “Dhirio,” at Grande Pulvaddo in Benaulim on August 9.
The incident was reportedly noticed around 3 pm, following which police initiated action against the persons allegedly involved in the event.
The accused have been identified as Manuel Jesus Vaz alias Manu, a resident of Sinqetim, Navelim, and Minguel, a resident of Acona, Benaulim.
Police have booked both men under Sections 11(1)(m) and 11(1)(n) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
The sections relate to acts involving animals, including making animals fight for public entertainment.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged bullfight and the involvement of the two accused.
