PANJIM: The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department board’s crucial meeting scheduled on Monday, to decide on bifurcation of the North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) has been postponed to November 6.
Sources confirmed that the meeting scheduled on Monday has been postponed by a week and will take place on November 6.
The postponement seems to be following the growing resentment and opposition within the coalition to the government’s in-principle approval to split NGPDA into three – Panjim PDA, Greater Panjim PDA and Coastal PDA. The move is basically to accommodate former Congress MLA and now Goa Forward Party leader Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate.
It is also learnt that the growing differences between TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai and Chief Town Planner Dr S T Puttaraju is another reason for the postponement. The Minister is hopeful of CTP’s transfer in the coming week.
