VASCO: The tourism sector seems to be doing well and the docking of yet another cruise liner, MV Celebrity Constellation, with high-end tourists reveals that things may well be looking up.
Port sources reveal that five more cruise liners are expected to arrive at Mormugao Port during this month, thereby giving further boost to cruise tourism in the state.
In fact, the tourism department may have discovered another avenue for attracting quality tourists as cruise liners have now made it a habit of docking at the Mormugao Harbour.
High-end tourist from Great Britain, Austria, Indonesia and those of India origin landed in Goa and enjoyed Goan hospitality before making their onward journey to Mumbai later in the evening.
Luxury cruise liner MV Celebrity Constellation arrived at Mormugao port on Monday morning from Cochin with 2037 guests and a crew of 975 on board.
This is the vessel’s fifth voyage to Mormugao port during the current cruise tourism season and is the 19th cruise liner to visit the port.
Goa Tourism Development Corporation officials also welcomed the visiting guests with a colorful cultural pageantry.
The visitors include 985 guests from Great Britain, 230 from Austria, 172 from Indonesia and 174 guest of Indian origin, who availed E-landing facility and were cleared by the officials of the Immigration Bureau, which operated 10 immigration counters at the cruise terminal.
The visitors later went ashore for a sight-seeing tour of Goa. M/s J M Baxi & Co, Vasco, are the Ship Agents, while the ground arrangements were handled by M/s Travelsmith Adventure Pvt Ltd.
