MARGAO: Six of the 11 members of Raia Village Panchayat on Monday filed a no-confidence motion against the Sarpanch Zelia Gonsalves.
Incidentally, Raia panchayat has seven lady panchayat members and four male members.
The six who have moved the no confidence motion include the Deputy Sarpanch Mario D’Souza along with Minguelina D’Souza, Inacina Quadros, Minguelina Fernandes, Esmeralda Fernandes e Gomes and Joaquim Fernandes.
The signatories to the no-confidence motion said the Sarpanch was not taking them into confidence while deciding matters and was also taking decisions that are contrary to the provisions of law. They also accused her of not taking any initiative to take up development works in the village.
The no-confidence motion will be discussed at a special panchayat body meeting that will be convened by the Block Development Officer.
