PANJIM: The State government has asked all its departments and related agencies to enroll their staffers under the Digital India programme system as it will facilitate to digitally store important documents like PAN card, passport, mark sheets and degree certificates.
“All concerned departments/PSUs/autonomous bodies/corporations/ under the Goa government are requested to kindly get all their staff members registered under the digital locker (through OTP method of registration),” a circular issued by the acting Chief Secretary R K Srivastava reads as.
A central government initiative, DigiLocker was formally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. It is aimed at eliminating the use of physical documents and enable sharing of verified electronic documents across government agencies.
The system will be operated by the Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) while the service has been running in beta since past few months. Once implemented, citizens will get a maximum of 10MB storage space, which is likely to be increased to 1GB.
With this launch, Digital India Week event will also come into force till July 7 wherein government’s e-services will be popularized and new ones introduced.
