PANJIM: On the backdrop of G20 Summit scheduled in April in the State, Chief Secretary Puneet Goel on Friday directed all the agencies executing the works of Smart City in Panjim to speed up and complete it in the stipulated time.
The inspection of the works was conducted by the Chief Secretary along with the department heads of Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP), Road Transport Office (RTO), Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA), Superintendent of North Goa (SP), Forest Department officials and other departments at Merces junction, KTC junction, Divja circle and Fontainhas area, to review the preparations for the G20 summit events.
At least eight of the 200-odd meetings of the G20 Summit on key sectors such as tourism, health and sustainability goals will be held in Goa. The first event of the G20 summit is scheduled to be held in Goa in April, wherein the heads of the industrialised and developing nations including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union are to attend.
