CS yet to submit report on cop ‘food scam’ despite PMO order

NGO to meet bureaucrat today, seeks probe by retired judge

PANJIM: Even as the PMO had asked the chief secretary a month back to submit his report following NGO Savera’s complaint that the cops on 24×7 duty during the BRICS summit were given sub-standard food, the out-going bureaucrat has not done so. BRICS was held in October.
The PMO had also asked the bureaucrat to submit a copy of his report to the complainant Tara Kerkar, president Savera.
According to her, even after a month has gone by following the PMO’s orders, the chief secretary has not responded to her complaint and nor has she received a copy of any inquiry report.
According to her, she had petitioned the PMO in October when the summit was underway. Kerkar said, “Despite the PMO taking cognizance and having sought a reply from chief secretary of Goa, the act of ignorance at such a level is condemnable”.
Kerkar said she will meet the chief secretary on Monday.
It may be recalled that Kerkar had petitioned the PMO complaining that policemen who were posted 24×7 before-and-during the BRICS summit were provided with substandard and unhygienic food.
The issue of police food scam during BRICS summit has also reached Goa Lokayukta. Advocate Aires Rodrigues has even complained to Lokayukta with documentary evidence that the food which was provided to policemen on duty was of sub-standard quality and the “contract” with the caterer did not follow any protocol. Food bills to the tune of over Rs 50 lakh were submitted by the police department.
Kerkar has also mentioned about the details of the tough time faced by the Goa Police personnel who were on duty during the summit. She has demanded a thorough probe under a retired justice in the alleged food scam.
