MARGAO: Residents of Cuncolim have cried foul over the frequent disruptions in the power supply and the damage caused to household items in some areas due to sudden high voltage.
Cuncolim Municipal Chairperson Landry Mascarenhas said the people of the town have been experiencing erratic power supply since the last few days. He said that high voltage has left many a household item damaged in Dandora and demanded action.
He pointed out that his office will write to the Power department on the illegal taping of power supply by some industrial units at the Cuncolim Industrial estate to illegal rooms housing the industrial workers.
A victim of high voltage, Franky Miranda told Herald that the high voltage has left his consumer durables damaged, besides electrical appliances. “We have experienced high voltage repeatedly in the last few days”, he said, while demanding action.
When the matter was brought to the notice of Executive Engineer, Santosh Lolienkar, he has promised action in the matter. He told the CMC Chairperson Landry that he would personally visit the Municipal area and inspect the power transporters suspected to be the cause behind the high voltage.
