CUNCOLIM: Frequent power failures that was a way of life in Cuncolim, may well become a thing of the past with the Electricity Department now commencing the work of laying underground power cables in this town.
The work of laying underground cable from Cuncolim Industrial Estate power station to Cuncolim town as started from Gate 2 of the estate and the work is tendered to Farm Creative Entrepreneurs LLP.
Company supervisor on the site said people will get better power supply once they finish their work.
It would be pertinent to point out that as the transmission lines and other equipment related to power supply has become old, people from Cuncolim have been suffering a lot.
In fact in 2017 when the sub-station was set up at Cuncolim Industrial Estate, the government had sanctioned an amount of Rs. 10 crore for underground cabling, but the work was never done.
Once the underground cable from the Industrial Estate to the town is laid, work will commence on providing the same facilities to each of the 14 wards of the municipal area.
