MARGAO: The Cuncolim police on Tuesday arrested Angela Fernandes, 43, a resident of Comba Central, Panzorconni, on charges of attempt to murder. She is presently in police custody.
According to Cuncolim PI Diago Gracias, an offence has been registered under Section 307 (attempt to commit murder) and Section 506(ii) (threatening with dire consequences) of the IPC.

According to the complaint lodged by Praveena D’Souza, a 34-year-old native of Khanapur, Belgaum, presently working at Dona Paula, unknown persons trespassed into her sister’s house at Sucaldem, Chinchinim on August 29.
The complaint stated that the trespass occurred between 8.45 pm to 11 pm that night when unidentified assailants entered the the house of Adrina Menezes, 29, and assaulted her with a wooden club on her head. Menezes sustained head injuries, and had to seek medical treatment, said the complaint.
The police had initially registered the case under Sections 448 and 324 of IPC for house trespass and causing hurt with dangerous weapons.
However, after recording the victim’s statement, the charge of causing hurt with dangerous weapons was dropped and instead attempt to murder and threatening with dire consequences, were added.
While Fernandes will be produced before the judicial magistrate for remand on Wednesday, police have recorded her statement and are looking out for the weapon used to assault Adrina Menezes.
