Amid the ongoing Curchorem case, BJP Goa President Damodar Naik has drawn attention with his remarks while responding to questions on whether the councillor linked to the controversy should resign.
Addressing the media, Naik said that parents are not always aware of the actions of their children and stressed the need to understand the mental and emotional condition of the parents during such situations.
He further clarified that his remarks were not intended as a political statement for publicity but were made in a broader context of empathy and sensitivity.
However, when specifically asked about the councillor’s resignation, Naik’s response was seen by many as defending and supporting the elected representative, rather than calling for accountability.
The remarks come at a time when the case has sparked public debate, with demands for clarity, responsibility, and appropriate action from those in positions of authority.
