Curchorem riots case hearing on Aug 3

A Fast Track Court, Margao has posted for hearing on August 3 the application filed by Adv Alban Viegas stating that the prosecution did not obtain prior sanction from the government before filing the charge sheet in the Curchorem communal riots case.
Adv Viegas argued that the police cannot file a charge sheet in an offense relating to section 153-A of the IPC against the accused before obtaining government sanction.
The matter came up for hearing before Fast Track Court Judge Vijaya Pol and the matter was posted for arguments on the application on August 3.
The matter assumes significance as the court has already framed charges against 30 accused persons in the case, including the then BJP general secretary Satish Dhond and BJP youth leader Sharmad Raiturcar.
