PONDA: The Curti-Khandepar gram sabha chaired by sarpanch Gurudas Khedekar resolved to allot and demarcate the land for Hindus, Catholics and Muslims for performing final rites.
It may be recalled that in 2011-12, Curti-Khandepar had acquired around 17,300 square metres of land at Deepnagar for the above communities. However, the land issue was reported to the Vigilance Department following a complaint by a politician. Now, the vigilance has given its approval to demarcate the land for three communities and accordingly, the Panchayat committee would hold meeting on to and finalise the process with the officials.
The gram sabha also passed resolution to conduct survey of transport offices and scrapyards operating in panchayats.
The locals objected to vehicles parked on road in front of scrapyards and suggested that any private party having sufficient land can allow space for parking the heavy vehicles subject to conditions from the panchayat. The locals demanded that the vacant space available behind old panchayat building be acquired to accommodate the new panchayat office, hall and health facilities.
The locals also demanded that the roadside fish vendors be cleared as they posed risk to villagers.
They also demanded solution to the garbage issue at Khandepar.
It was also resolved that all panchayat-owned shops, which are currently non-operational, should be taken into possession and put to use.
