PANJIM: The Director of Mines and Geology (DMG) has issued a show cause notice to a mining firm for undertaking alleged iron ore mining activities in Pissurlem over last one year.
The show cause notice, returnable within 15 days, seeks to know as why action should not be taken against the firm for alleged illegal mining activities at various TC No in Pissurlem area since February 2020.

Sources informed that the notice is been issued following series of complaints filed by a local, who alleged that the firm was involved in illegal extraction and sale of ore.
Sources said that a total of eight complaints were filed between February and November 2020.
“Taking cognisance of the complaint, site inspection was undertaken during which, machinery was found at the site and some extraction was also reported,” sources said.
The firm’s failure to respond to the notice would attract stringent action, the DMG said.
