PONDA: Curti local and panch member Naved Tehsildar said he filed a petition with Attorney General, Election Commission of India and Director of Panchayat s seeking a stay to the reservation of ward 6 for Other Backward Classes.
He said with the petition, he attached news clipping which appeared in the Herald. According to Naved, Ward 6 of Curti Khandpepar Panchayat has been reserved for Other Backward Classes. Only 3 OBC families with 16 votes reside in Nablyakhali and Nagzar areas of the ward while the majority are Muslims. He said despite being a majority community, the Muslims would not be allowed to contest the elections due to reservation.
