margao: Curtorim Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco has requested the government to make available at subsidised rates, quality products of face mask and sanitisers for the people of Goa. Masks and hand sanitizers have vanished from the markets in a wave of panic buying.

Acknowledging the efforts being put in to quarantine passengers, who have flown to Goa from virus-affected international destinations including Italy, he said that the ‘State is doing absolutely nothing to check both road and rail travelers entering Goa’.

“Shortage in supply of water in many parts of the State will further worsen the conditions of sanitation and hygiene, which in turn would weaken our resolve to face the challenges of Coronavirus,” Reginaldo added.

“Each health centre in the State, both government and private, should have a dedicated wing (including quarantine facility) to tackle Corvid19,” Reginaldo urged.

In a letter to the govt, in which he highlighted how coronavirus has affected countries including India, Reginaldo said, “It is a subject of immediate health importance on the background of the latest news that two Goans after displaying symptoms of coronavirus have been kept in quarantine at GMC.”

“Our government in association with all its departments and  all other stakeholders of the State, be it the panchayats, municipalities, schools, colleges, NGOs, churches, temples, mosques, gurudwaras etc should proactively disseminate/propagate the ‘Dos and Don’ts’ of the Union Ministry of Health, to tackle the coronavirus outbreak,” Reginaldo added further.
