VASCO: Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho said a decision has been taken to convert the Dabolim junction on NH17 B road located next to the airport into a roundabout.
Speaking to reporters after reviewing the ongoing works of improvement and widening of road leading to Bogmalo from Dabolim on Monday, he further informed that for which land acquisition process regarding the roundabout has already been completed by the National highway Authority officials and the work will be completed within a month.
He said, “Improvement of Dabolim junction, which had become a death trap for the motorists, was one of the pending demands made by the locals and thus a decision has been taken to convert this junction into beautiful iconic roundabout.”
He further said, “Considering the fact that Dabolim junction is located near the Dabolim Airport and tourists arriving in Goa should have good impression about the state. The Planning for the roundabout has been made and is expected that the work will be completed within a month. Even the land acquisition process by NHAI authorities is already completed.”
Commenting on the other plans for Dabolim junction, he said, “The road which was already widened before elections is being tarred and there will be footpath along it. The new market, which has already been constructed at Dabolim, will be further improved and within a month time all such works would be completed.”
When asked about the grade separator work at Dabolim Airport, which has been going on at snail’s pace, Godinho said, “Recently Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had held review meeting with the concerned project contractor and the contractor has been directed to complete the works before December 2017. The project, which would decongest traffic to and from Dabolim airport will be operational year end,” he assured.
