Dalvi arrested in Corlim for ‘derogatory post’ on Minister

PONDA: Ponda Police late Monday night arrested Sudeep Dalvi in Corlim, Old Goa for his alleged derogatory post on a social media platform against Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gaude.

Forty-year-old Dalvi, a native of Sawantwadi, settled in Goa, was brought to the Ponda Police Station.

Earlier, on Sunday, Ponda Police had registered an FIR following a complaint from UTAA for his derogatory post against Gaude.

Earlier on Monday, police sources said, “After filing FIR against Dalvi under Section 3 of ST/SC Atrocities Act 1989, Section 6 of Information and Technology Act 2000 and Section 295 of IPC we have conducted a search for Davli. However, since Dalvi has learnt about the police complaint he is untraceable at his known address.”

UTAA and GAKUVED Federation had condemned Dalvi’s post, as another police complaint was filed against him demanding action under SC/ ST Atrocities Act.

GAKUVED Federation had given the police a three-day ultimatum to arrest Dalvi.

Earlier on Monday, addressing media persons, general secretary Rupesh Velip said, “Ponda PI Mohan Gaude has assured us of Davli’s arrest. However, if Dalvi is not arrested within three days, then the government will be responsible if law and order situation arises.”
