Political tensions ahead of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) elections escalated after Dattaprasad Naik alleged that Minister Babush Monserrate and his associates are pressuring candidates from the Ami Panjekar panel to withdraw from the fray.
Naik claimed that nearly 12 candidates have been targeted through alleged threats and misuse of government machinery in an attempt to force them out of the civic contest.

Allegations of Threats and Coercion
Addressing the media, Naik alleged that candidates belonging to the Ami Panjekar panel are facing intimidation tactics aimed at weakening their electoral presence in the upcoming CCP polls. He further claimed that undue influence is being exerted to discourage participation.
The allegations come at a crucial juncture as campaigning gains momentum in Panaji.
Complaint to State Election Commission
Naik stated that a formal complaint will be lodged with the Goa State Election Commission, seeking intervention to ensure a free and fair electoral process.
