PANJIM: With increasing participation every day, the fifth day of Congress candidate’s Reginaldo Lourenco’s road yatra, saw the citizens of Mormugao come out in full support, rallying behind him, Mormugao Congress leader Sankalp Amonkar, NCP leader Jose Philip D’Souza, social activist Tara Kerkar and other prominent people from Vasco.
Starting from Khariwada, they moved through the small by lanes of Vasco entering New Vaddem upto Baina and MPT, greeting the people who thronged out of their houses to get a glimpse of the Congress candidate. The peopled seemed unfazed by the heat and attended meetings that were organized in various localities all across the constituency.
At the meetings, Reginaldo spoke about the reason of accepting the Party’s decision to nominate him to contest the polls. He explained to the people his agenda, and the various issues he will take up in the Lok Sabha and assured that Goa’s voice in the Lok Sabha will be felt by his presence.
NCP leader and ex-MLA urged to his supporters to support Reginaldo, who is a humble, simple young man and as he is the only capable candidate from the constituency who actually cares about their problems and assured that he will work in the interest of the people as he has in the past.
Tara Kerkar reminded the people of the BJP govt’s U-turn on the Vasco rape case issue. She seemed to break down while speaking about the issue and appealed to the people that such injustice should not be tolerated, and people should not vote for the BJP, as they have lost the trust of the citizens of the State at large.
The huge crowd accompanying Reginaldo and the brigade of leaders from the port town showed no signs of fatigue throughout the journey and looked rather enthusiastic about the schedule of the whole day as they connected with all sections of small constituency of Mormugao. They said that they were very happy that Reginaldo has been nominated to contest the election, and this enthusiasm is because judging by his performance in the Assembly, they trust that he will be a good Parliamentarian and so they will work to the best of their capacity to help him win by a huge margin in Mormugao.
