Deadline passes by without repairing potholed Anjuna roads

CALANGUTE: The authorities yet to repair the potholed Anjuna roads even as the deadline set by the villagers of Ajuna-Caisua for repairing the dreaded potholed roads expires tomorrow.

It is expected that the villagers may block the roads of Anjuna to highlight the plight of motorists and others, on Thursday.
The PWD has failed to repair the potholed roads of Anjuna to the satisfaction of the villagers except filling the potholes with mud, etc.  The roads especially the one leading from petrol pump at Anjuna to St Michael’s Church towards Mapusa is very bad and difficult to motor.  Many a cars and others vehicles have been damaged due to the bad state of roads while motorists have fallen off their bikes during the day as well as night causing considerable injuries.
Though the PWD authorities took the deadline seriously by filling the pot holes with mud, etc. the Villagers of Anjuna-Caisua have asserted that the roads are still  not motor able and want some concrete action or else they have decided to ahead with people’s agitation.  The Villagers of Anjuna-Caisua want good motorable roads during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival and not injuries due to bad roads.
Meanwhile, the PWD has started filling the pot holes in the Village of Calangute which have been haunting the Villagers and tourists for month together.  The labourers engaged by the PWD Authorities were seen filling the major pot holes with concrete, etc. on the roads leading to Calangute-Candolim, Calangute-Mapusa, etc.  The repaired roads of the Village of Calangute would somewhat come handy for the motorists and others during the festive season of Ganesh Chaturthi.
