Naik was speaking at the launch of Suraksha Kavach scheme, which is an insurance scheme for students, on the eve of his birthday. He further said, “I am proud that Dambabalem Ghoddem started something for the security of ‘generation next’ and not something that will make them slaves of WiFi.”
More than 10,000 students of around 18 schools will benefit from the scheme, which was conceptualised by Dambabalem Ghoddem Cultural Association (DGCA). DGCA will incur Rs 52 crore in the form of premiums. The policies will be drawn in the New India Assurance Company and has been formulated to cover all student classes.
The scheme was launched by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who also inaugurated toilet blocks at the joggers track at the SAG ground. He stated, “Developing a scheme that will benefit all students is a master job and I congratulate Damu for doing it while being out of power.”
