VASCO: Mormugao’s Ward 3 councillor Shashikant Parab on Wednesday said the decision on whether to declare the Goa Rehabilitation Board Colony (GRB) at Headland Sada as a containment zone will be taken after the test results of the residents are out.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday, the District Administration cordoned off the entire GRB colony and nearby areas by placing barricades and deploying police force, after 15 COVID positive cases were detected.
On Wednesday, after the colony was sanitised, Parab informed media persons that swab samples of around 16 persons were collected for COVID testing and much depends on the test results.
Parab said recently there were 11 COVID positive cases detected in the colony and on Tuesday evening the figure went up. To stop the spread of the infection, Urban Development Minister held a discussion with the government and the entire area was sealed.
When asked on the number of flats and residents in the colony, Parab said there are around 224 flats with 955 residents.
He said if the area is declared as containment zone then the arrangements to provide essential items to these households will be made after consulting MLA Naik.
