Decision on school re-opening soon

The expert committee on the third wave will take a call in the near future if schools should not be reopened.

The committee did not discuss this matter in their first meeting but said they will take a decision depending on the incidents of COVID infectivity and the positivity rate at that point in time.

They will give their suggestion to the task force on the third wave that is chaired by the Chief Minister, who is also the education minister.

This was stated by GMC Dean and chairman of the committee, Dr Shivanand Bandekar, who was asked by media persons if the committee will recommend not opening schools.

This was after the committee said the third wave would depend on many factors, two of which included the nature and strength of the COVID strain and if schools reopen or not.
