VASCO: Traditional fishermen associations at Baina and Desterro are likely to get a dedicated parking space along the Baina shoreline soon.
A joint inspection of the area was carried out on Monday during which two sites were identified. The sites would be dedicated for parking of canoes during monsoon.
Speaking to reporters after carrying out the joint inspection with the Director of Fisheries and traditional fishermen, Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar said a dedicated parking space to park as many as 500 canoes would be made available for traditional fishermen of the area.
The team travelled across the Baina shoreline and identified a place behind Baina sewerage plant where there will be a parking lot for around 500 canoes. The Water Resources Department (WRD) will construct a retaining wall and carry out dredging of around three metres for the parking lot, it was informed.
